Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 22

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – High Point guard Kezza Giffa (Paris, France) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while teammate forward Juslin Bodo Bodo (Yaounde, Cameroon) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 15-21, it was announced today.
 
Giffa averaged 28.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 48.4 percent from the field (15-of-31), 45.5 percent from beyond the arc (5-of-11) and 84.0 percent from the charity stripe (21-of-25) in two Big South victories.  He opened with a team-high 27 points in 32 minutes off the bench in the Panthers’ win at Presbyterian last Wednesday, in which he was 8-of-12 from the floor with three treys, as well as 8-of-10 from the line.  Giffa then started his first game of the season on Saturday and scored a team-best 29 points in which he made 13-of-15 free throws while handing out five assists to help High Point hold off Charleston Southern.
 
Bodo Bodo contributed 5.5 points, 7.0 rebounds (3.0 offensive boards) and 2.5 blocked shots in High Point’s wins last week.  He first had eight points, nine boards and three blocks in a season-high 34 minutes at PC, then tallied three points, four offensive caroms (five total) and two blocked shots Saturday against CSU.  Bodo Bodo secured an offensive rebound in the final minute vs. the Bucs to help the Panthers extend their lead to seven.
 
Also nominated for Player of the Week: Caleb Robinson (Gardner-Webb), Szymon Zapala (Longwood), Samage Teel (Presbyterian), Bryan Antoine (Radford), Drew Pember (UNC Asheville), Trae Broadnax (USC Upstate) and Kelton Talford (Winthrop).
 
Also nominated for Freshman of the Week: Leo Nordberg (Longwood) and Eduardo Placer (USC Upstate).
