Big South Announces 2024-25 Men's Basketball Conference Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference revealed its 2024-25 men’s basketball composite league schedule Wednesday morning.  The 72-game slate begins on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 and is a 16-game, double round-robin schedule to determine the 2024-25 regular-season champion.

The slate features two games a week, mostly on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and concludes Saturday, March 1.  Teams have two open dates during the conference season -- one midweek and one Saturday, with the byes scheduled during each half of the season (Jan. 2-29, Feb. 1-March 1).  All schools will play each other during the opening month of the campaign, with the second game of the season series scheduled at least two weeks apart.
 
Six Thursday national television appearances on ESPNU -- Jan. 2, Jan. 16, Feb. 6, Feb. 13, Feb. 20 and Feb. 27 -- will be Wildcard selections 14-21 days in advance and chosen from the slate of Wednesday games scheduled the day before the respective broadcast date (unless already scheduled for Thursday).

Defending Big South Champion Longwood will begin its league slate at Presbyterian on Thursday, Jan. 2, while defending regular-season champion High Point opens its conference schedule at home that same evening against Radford.  Also opening the conference season at home on Jan. 2 will be Charleston Southern (vs. Gardner-Webb and new head coach Jeremy Luther) and Winthrop (vs. USC Upstate and new head coach Marty Richter).  

High Point, Presbyterian and Winthrop will start and end league action at home, while Gardner-Webb and Longwood will begin and finish conference play with road games.  The two meetings featuring last year’s Championship game participants -- Longwood and UNC Asheville -- will be Wednesday, Jan. 8 (at Longwood) and Saturday, Feb. 22 (at Asheville).

The season culminates with the 2025 Hercules Tires Big South Men’s Basketball Championship, which will be held at the Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, Tenn., from March 5-9.  The first round will be Wednesday, March 5, followed by four quarterfinal contests on Friday, March 7.  The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, March 8, with the Championship game on Sunday, March 9.
