CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The seedings and pairings for the 2024 Big South Conference Women’s Soccer Championship have been determined following the conclusion of the regular-season this afternoon.  Due to three conference matches unable to be re-scheduled due to Hurricane Helene, not all teams played eight Big South contests this season.  Therefore, the league’s Unequal Games Played policy was enacted, which uses an average points per game system for Big South wins/ties to determine the official standings and seedings.

The top six teams in the final standings qualify for the league’s postseason championship.  First round matches will be held on campus on Saturday, Nov. 2, with the Semifinals (Nov. 7) and Finals (Nov. 10) contested at the SportsPlex in Matthews, N.C.

CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET

USC Upstate claimed its first-ever Big South regular-season championship and is the No. 1 seed in the six-team tournament.  The Spartans, last year’s Runner-up, finished with a 5-1-2 Big South record for 17 points and a 2.13 points average.  Upstate receives a bye into the Semifinals and carries a five-match unbeaten streak into the postseason.

High Point earned the No. 2 seed and bye into the Semifinals following its 5-2-1 conference mark for 16 points and a 2.00 points average.

Two-time defending champion Radford is the No. 3 seed (3-1-3, 12 points, 1.71 points average) and will host No. 6 UNC Asheville in a first round match on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:00pm.  While the Bulldogs and Charleston Southern tied for sixth in the final standings with a 1.00 points average, Asheville clinched the final berth following today’s 1-0 victory over the Bucs.  The Radford/Asheville winner will face No. 2 High Point Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7:00pm.

Longwood clinched the No. 4 seed (3-2-3, 12 points, 1.50 points average) for its first women’s soccer tournament berth since 2021.  The Lancers will host No. 5 Presbyterian (2-2-3, 9 points, 1.29 points average) in a first round match on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:00pm.  The Blue Hose are making their first tournament appearance since 2019, and have achieved their highest-ever seeding.  The winner will face top-seeded USC Upstate on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 4:00pm.

The 2024 Big South Women’s Soccer Championship will be played at higher seeds for the First Round before moving to the Matthews Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C., for the Semifinals and Finals.  All five matches of the tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+, and the Big South’s tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship.  The full tournament schedule is as follows:
