Seedings and Pairings Announced for 2024 Big South Men's Soccer Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – For the second consecutive year, High Point University is the Big South Conference Men’s Soccer regular-season champion, and is the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, it was determined following the conclusion of the conference season this evening.  The top six teams in the final standings qualify for the league’s postseason championship, which will be contested Nov. 6, 10 & 16 at campus sites.  The Panthers, the two-time defending Big South Tournament champion, finished the 2024 regular-season with 18 points and a 6-1-0 conference record for their sixth all-time outright Big South title, and receive a bye into the Semifinals.

Gardner-Webb earned the No. 2 seed and bye into the Semifinals following its second-place standing with 17 points (5-0-2 Big South) -- the Runnin’ Bulldogs’ highest conference finish the 2011 season.  Winthrop is the No. 3 seed (12 points, 4-3-0 conference mark), with UNC Asheville clinching the No. 4 seed (11 points, 3-2-2 record).

Longwood and Presbyterian tied for fifth in the final standings with seven points and 2-4-1 Big South records, and the Lancers receive the No. 5 seed based on its 3-1 victory over the Blue Hose during the regular-season, with PC moving into the sixth and final seed.
 
The first round matches on Wednesday, Nov. 6, feature UNC Asheville hosting Longwood at 6:00pm, as well as Winthrop hosting Presbyterian at 6:00pm.  The Asheville/Longwood winner will travel to top-seeded High Point on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 6:00pm, while the Winthrop/PC victor will visit No. 2 Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3:00pm.
 
The 2024 Big South Men’s Soccer Championship will be played at higher seeds throughout the tournament, and every match of the championship will be shown on ESPN+.  The Big South’s tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship.  The full schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, Nov. 6 – First Round at higher seeds (ESPN+)
(6) Presbyterian at (3) Winthrop, 6:00pm
(5) Longwood at (4) UNC Asheville, 6:00pm
 
Sunday, Nov. 10 – Semifinals at higher seeds (ESPN+)
3/6 Winner at (2) Gardner-Webb, 3:00pm
4/5 Winner at (1) High Point, 6:00pm

Saturday, Nov. 16 – Championship at highest remaining seed (ESPN+)
