Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Feb. 19
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – UNC Asheville guard Mallory Bruce (Greenville, S.C.) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Radford forward Terissa Lavoile-Brice (Saint-Laurent, Quebec) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Feb. 12-18, it was announced today.
Bruce averaged 21.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games last week. She shot an efficient 16-of-28 from the floor ( =57.1 percent) and was 9-of-12 from the free throw line ( =75.0) while averaging 39.0 minutes per game. The junior guard opened with a game-high 25 points and six rebounds on Wednesday against Presbyterian, finishing with nine made field goals, one shy of tying a season-high. She then scored 18 points with eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in an overtime win against Charleston Southern to cap off the week on Saturday.
Lavoile-Brice posted 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in two games for Radford. She connected at a 58.8 percent clip overall (10-of-17), while seven of her 14 combined rebounds on the week came on the offensive glass. The forward led the Highlanders in scoring for the first time in her career with 12 points, seven rebounds and one steal in an overtime loss at Winthrop on Wednesday. She then added another eight points, seven rebounds and two steals on Saturday at home against first-place High Point.
