Big South Announces Women's Tennis Players of the Week - Feb. 21
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Presbyterian College’s Lucianna Piedra (Mexico City, Mexico) has been named the Big South Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while UNC Asheville’s Louise Booker (Lowestoft, Suffolk, United Kingdom) has been named the Big South Women’s Freshman of the Week for matches played Feb. 12-18, it was announced today.
In singles, Piedra posted a 6-1,6-3 win at the No. 4 spot over Wofford on Saturday, in addition to her 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles over the Terriers with teammate Madison Dennett. In Sunday’s match against Tennessee State, Piedra clinched the No. 3 singles spot with a score of 6-4, 6-2. She and Dennett defeated TSU, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles.
Booker teamed up with Avery Sager for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles in Asheville's 7-0 win over North Greenville on Saturday. Booker also earned a 6-1,6-2 victory at the No. 2 spot. She then competed in Sunday’s match against Queens where she and Sager clinched a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Sager followed with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 2 singles.
