High Point Clinches Share of Men's Basketball Regular-Season Championship

High Point defeated Charleston Southern on Saturday, and coupled with UNC Asheville's loss to Gardner-Webb, the Panthers have clinched at least a share of the regular-season championship.  In other action, Winthrop and Radford secured home wins.

HIGH POINT 74, CHARLESTON SOUTHERN 59 | BOX SCORE
High Point men's basketball made the long journey south to take on the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern for the second match-up this season on Saturday afternoon. HPU took care of business and clinched at least a share of the Big South Conference regular season title with the 74-59 victory.  Kezza Giffa, Abdoulaye Thiam, and Juslin Bodo Bodo led the way each scoring double figures. Giffa went 5-for-14 from the field and 9-for-10 from the line to drop 20 points. Thiam registered 16 points driving to the paint going 7-for-12 from the field. Bodo Bodo collected a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
 
GARDNER-WEBB 78, UNC ASHEVILLE 77 | BOX SCORE
Senior guard Quest Aldridge drilled a clutch three-point shot with 7.1 seconds remaining to lift the Gardner-Webb men's basketball team to a 78-77 comeback victory over host Asheville Saturday afternoon in front of a capacity crowd of 3,129 inside Kimmel Arena.  The win gives Gardner-Webb, which won the first meeting against the Bulldogs at home, 80-73, back on Jan. 31st, a sweep of the season series for the first time since 2021-22. The Runnin' Bulldogs improved to 14-15 overall (9-5 in Big South play).
 
WINTHROP 83, USC UPSTATE 74 | BOX SCORE
Winthrop battled its way to an 83-74 over USC Upstate, Saturday afternoon inside the Winthrop Coliseum.  Leading the Eagles were Micheal Anumba (15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, steal), Sin'Cere Mcmahon (13 points, rebound, assist, steal) and Kelton Talford (12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, steal).  Winthrop locked in a top four finish in the standings with the victory.
 
RADFORD 88, LONGWOOD 82 | BOX SCORE
The Radford men's basketball used a barrage of three-pointers in the first half and clutch free throws down the stretch to earn a wire-to-wire, 88-82, victory over Longwood at the Dedmon Center on Saturday afternoon.  DaQuan Smith was unstoppable from long range, leading the Highlanders with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting from three – a new career high in three-pointers made.  Justin Archer added 17 points, just one point from tying his career high, and seven rebounds.
