Big South Announces Baseball Players of the Week - March 11

Noah Sullivan (Orlando, Fla.) has been named the Big South Baseball Player of the Week while High Point’s
Matt Little (Fayetteville, N.C.) is the Starting Pitcher of the Week for games played March 4-10, it was announced today. In addition, Gardner-Webb’s
Connor Maggi(Forest, Va.) was selected as the Relief Pitcher of the Week while USC Upstate’s
Cooper Ellingworth (Orlando, Fla.) is the Freshman of the Week honoree.
Sullivan hit .600 (9-for-15) with six runs scored, 10 RBI, three home runs, one double, and six walks last week. He posted a .714 on-base percentage while slugging 1.267 with four extra-base hits, including a multi-home run game against No. 18 Coastal Carolina last Tuesday. A two-way player, he also picked up the win on the mound in USC Upstate’s Friday victory over Rider, tossing 7.0 innings in the 9-3 victory.
Little worked 6.2 innings allowing no runs while striking out five to lead High Point to a series-clinching victory over Rutgers Sunday. Earning his first victory of the season in the 6-2 win, he didn’t allow a baserunner to advance past second base as he only saw multiple baserunners on twice.
Maggi tossed 5.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Gardner-Webb in the Runnin’ Bulldogs’ come-from-behind victory Saturday versus Manhattan. Coming on in the second, he retired the first seven batters he faced as he scattered three baserunners during his appearance, striking out nine. He struck out at least one hitter in each his innings of work, punching out multiple hitters in three of his five innings.
Ellingworth made two appearances on the mound for Upstate last week, combining to throw 5.1 innings in outings against No. 18 Coastal Carolina and Rider. He closed his week picking up the win in the Spartans’ comeback victory against the Broncs Saturday, tossing 4.0 scoreless innings. He allowed just two baserunners on the night and retired the last 10 batters he faced.
