Big South Announces Women's Tennis Players of the Week - March 27
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – UNC Asheville’s Linge Steenkamp (Bloemfontein, South Africa) has been named the Big South Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Alexis Nyborg (Moreland Hills, Ohio) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week for matches played March 18-24, it was announced today.
Steenkamp picked up two wins in UNC Asheville's 4-2 victory over Western Carolina last week with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles and a 6-1 win at No.1 doubles with teammate Ari Siegel. She then clinched the doubles point 7-6, (8-6) with Ari Seigel against Charleston Southern before collecting a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Nyborg clinched the point for UNC Asheville with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles over Charleston Southern last week.
