Big South Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Oct. 13

Louis Beckett (Bridlington, United Kingdom) hasbeen named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Radford goalkeeper
Ben Miller (Highland, Utah) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 6-12, it was announced today. In addition, USC Upstate forward
Josh Zawlocki (Fort Mill, S.C.) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
Beckett scored his first two goals of the season, including the game winner, in UNC Asheville’s road victory at Longwood. The senior opened the scoring in the eighth minute to give the Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead and added his second in the 61st minute to extend the advantage to 3-0. Beckett’s two goals came on four shots in 58 minutes, three of which were on target.
Miller made a career-high eight saves on 17 shots, helping hold nationally ranked Gardner-Webb scoreless for the first time this season. The sophomore recorded two saves in the first half and six in the second, including a final stop with six minutes remaining to preserve the 0-0 draw and earn a point for Radford. He played all 90 minutes in goal, earning his third shutout of the season.
Zawlocki scored the second goal of his career in USC Upstate’s non-conference match against Queens to open last week’s play. Trailing 2-0, the freshman cut the deficit in half with a 72nd-minute goal assisted by teammate Oscar Kelly. He totaled a career-high four shots, including an attempt at an equalizer that struck the post following his first goal. Zawlocki finished the week with 85 minutes played across two games.
