Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Nov. 17

Aaliyah Collins (Snohomish, Wash.) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Longwood guard
Jesstynie Scott (Americus, Ga.) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Nov. 10-16, it was announced today.
Collins averaged 24.0 points, 5.0 assists, 3.0 steals, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in a 2-0 week for High Point. She shot 55.9 percent from the field (19-of-34) and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line (9-of-11). The graduate point guard opened the week with 21 points, five steals, a career-high four blocks and three assists in an 82-69 win over Merrimack on Wednesday. She followed with a career-high 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting in Sunday’s 84-68 victory over East Carolina, adding a season-high seven assists, three rebounds and one steal. She averaged 34.0 minutes per game as the Panthers improved to 4-0 on the season.
Scott averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two games for Longwood, highlighted by a career-high 19 points Friday against Bluefield College. After recording three assists and two steals at Navy on Wednesday, the freshman guard went 7-for-13 from the field and posted career highs in points (19), rebounds (9) and assists (4), along with three steals, in the win over Bluefield. For the week, Scott shot 40.0 percent from 3-point range (2-of-5) and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line (3-of-4).
