Big South Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Nov. 3

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– Gardner-Webb’s Samson Kpardeh (Worcester, Mass.) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while High Point’s Lukas Kamrath (Tampa, Fla.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 27-Nov. 2, it was announced today. In addition, Longwood’s Benjamin Ferrero (Esquel, Argentina) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
 
Kpardeh recorded a brace at UNC Asheville, including the game-winning goal in the 76th minute, to lift Gardner-Webb to a 2-1 comeback victory and clinch the No. 2 seed in the Big South Championship. Trailing 1-0, he scored twice in less than three minutes at the 73:06 and 75:56 marks to secure a first-round bye for the Runnin’ Bulldogs. Kpardeh finished with nine shots, seven on goal, while playing the full 90 minutes.
 
Kamrath scored his third goal of the season and anchored High Point’s eighth shutout of the season in a 5-0 win over Winthrop. The Tampa, Fla., native extended the lead to 4-0 with a goal in the 55th minute and helped limit the Eagles to five total shots and just two on target. He played 66 minutes as the Panthers capped a perfect 7-0 Big South season with a combined 22-1 goal differential.
 
Ferrero netted his second collegiate goal in Longwood’s 5-3 home win over Presbyterian to close the regular season. The defensive midfielder scored in the 53rd minute to make it 3-1, helping spark a four-goal second half that sealed a must-win result for the Lancers. Ferrero’s goal came on his lone shot while playing all 90 minutes for the fifth time this season.
