Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Dec. 29

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Charleston Southern guard Brycen Blaine (Richmond, Va.) has been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while High Point forward Caden Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio) is the Freshman of the Week honoree for games played Dec. 22-28, it was announced today.
 
Blaine tallied 23 points and seven rebounds off the bench in the Buccaneers’ 77-72 road win at Richmond on Sunday afternoon.  He scored 17 first-half points, which included all five of his three-pointers in the contest, and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.  Blaine scored his 23 points in 28 minutes off the bench in leading the Bucs over the Spiders, who entered the contest 10-2 overall, ranked 91 in the NET, and undefeated at home (8-0).
 
Miller averaged 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 offensive rebounds, 2.5 blocked shots and 1.5 assists in High Point’s two victories last week.  He opened with six points, a team-best three blocks, three boards and 3-of-4 effort from the field in a season-high 17 minutes vs. Bryant last Monday.  Miller then scored a personal-best 10 points on Sunday vs. Pfeiffer, as he was 5-of-8 from the floor along with five caroms, two blocks and two assists.
 
Also nominated for Player of the Week: Conrad Martinez (High Point), Elijah Tucker (Longwood), Jonah Pierce (Presbyterian), Del Jones (Radford) and Logan Duncomb (Winthrop).
 
Also nominated for Freshman of the Week: Jerome Williams (Longwood) and Gabriel Ferreira (Radford).
