Big South Announces 2025 Women's Tennis Annual Award Winners
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (
www.BigSouthSports.com) -- Charleston Southern’s
Emmie Moore (Salt Lake City, Utah) has been voted the Big South Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year by the league’s head coaches, it was announced today by the Conference office. Charleston Southern head coach
Anca Dumitrescu was voted Coach of the Year, and Gardner-Webb’s
Arili Boshoff (Nelspruit, South Africa) was voted Freshman of the Year by the group. Presbyterian’s College’s
McKenzie Davis (Florence, S.C.) was voted Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Big South’s Sports Information Directors.
Moore is the first player in league history to claim Big South Player and Newcomer of the Year in the same season. Additionally, Moore is the first Player of the Year at CSU since Coach Dumitrescu arrived in the fall of 2018. She impressed in singles play with her overall record of 9-2 and 4-0 in Big South play, spending the majority of the season in the top flight. In each of her conference matches, she won by straight sets, and all but one of her victories on the season she needed more than two sets to win. In doubles, she paired with Brenda Yoris on the #3 court and paired together for seven wins.
Boshoff, in her rookie campaign, posted a 9-7 overall mark, including a pair of wins at No. 4 singles and seven wins as the No. 5 singles for the Runnin’ Bulldogs. Bohsoff also teamed up with senior Emilia Roslund to pick up six wins at No. 1 doubles.
Dumitrescu claimed her third Big South Coach of the Year award this season after leading the Bucs to a regular season record of 15-4 with a winning percentage of 78.9 percent, the highest in her time at CSU. The record included an 11-match winning streak to end the regular season. Additionally, the Bucs had a perfect 5-0 mark against league opponents, outscoring their Big South foes, 27-4 across those matches. This is the third Regular Season Championship the team has claimed during her seven years at the helm.
Davis owns a 4.00 GPA as a political science major. She is tied as the Blue Hose's doubles leader with 13 wins while playing at all three spots this season and is tied as the team's runner up with nine singles wins while competing only at the number one and two positions. She was named Big South Player of the Week twice this year. In the classroom, Davis has maintained a 4.0 GPA while being named to the President's List four times (Fall 22; Fall 23; Spring 24; Fall 24) and to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll twice (22-23; 23-24).
