Big South Announces Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - April 17

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions this past weekend of April 10-13.
 
UNC Asheville’s Shemarr Session (Marietta, Ga.) was voted Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, Gardner-Webb’s Quentin Peterson (McDonough, Ga.) was tabbed the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honoree, while Asheville’s Paul Kiprotich (Keringet, Nakuru, Kenya) was selected the Men’s Freshman of the Week.
 
Session won the 200m at the Asheville Bulldog Invitational with a school-record time of 20.66 seconds -- the 10th-fastest 200m time in league history and good for 18th in the country this season.  Session also placed second in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.52, and was part of the Bulldogs’ 4x100m Relay team that finished first in a school-record time of 40.01 seconds.
 
Peterson won the shot put at the South Florida Invitational with a winning mark of 17.77m.  He finished second in the discus with a personal-best distance of 60.30m -- which ranks second all-time in Big South history, and was seventh in the hammer with a throw of 55.47m. 
 
Kiprotich won the men's 5,000m at the Asheville Bulldog Invitational with a time of 14:56.48.  He also finished third in the 1,500m run with a PR time of 3:50.29.
