Big South Announces Women's Tennis Players of the Week - April 2
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Charleston Southern's
Brenda Yoris (Doral, Fla.) and UNC Asheville's
Angelina Joy Hug (Murten, Switzerland) have been named Co-Players of the Week, while UNC Asheville's
Keira Stewart (Greenville, S.C.) is the Women's Freshman of the Week honoree for matches played March 24-30, it was announced today.
Yoris went 2-0 in singles on the week with singles wins against Longwood and Radford. She won on the no. 5 singles court against Longwood (6-4, 0-6, 7-6) and followed that performance up with a straight-sets win against Radford (6-1, 6-1). She added a 6-4 doubles win against the Lancers to her performance as well.
Joy Hug went 2-0 in singles, helping her team to conference victories over Gardner-Webb and Radford. She defeated Alizee Poulin (7-6, 6-2) and Julia Abrams (6-1,6-0) to complete a flawless singles week on the no. 2 court.
Stewart went 2-0 in doubles on the week while also picking up a singles win. She won at no.3 doubles against Gardner-Webb, before winning at no.2 doubles and no. 5 singles against Radford.
