Big South Announces Women's Golfers of the Week - Aug. 28

Lauren Madson (Bradenton, Fla.) has been named the Big South Women’s Golfer of the Week, while Longwood’s
Avery Nordman (Ottawa, Ontario) is the Women’s Freshman of the Week honoree for events played the opening week of the 2025 fall season, it was announced today.
In her Bulldog debut, Madson finished fifth at the Tiger Classic with a 4-under par 140 (73-67). Her 5-under-par second round made her the second Bulldog in program history to shoot a 5-under-par round. In addition, her two-round score of 140 set a program record for lowest 36-hole total. Madson finished in fifth place out of 70 golfers, was 4-under on the par-5 holes, and was one of three individuals with an eagle in the second round. She helped Asheville to a runner-up finish in the 11-team field.
Nordman tied for 12th at the Jayhawk Invitational with an 11-over 227 (77-78-72), and was the Lancers’ top finisher in the event. Her final round 72 included four birdies that helped push her up nine spots on the final leaderboard, and she tallied nine birdies overall. Nordman tied for fourth in par-3 scoring, and her effort helped Longwood finish fifth in the 10-team field.
