Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 12

Conrad Martinez (Granollers, Spain) have been named the Big South Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week, while High Point forward
Caden Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio) is the Freshman of the Week honoree for games played Jan. 5-11, it was announced today.
Taylor led Asheville to its first two Big South wins of the season with 25.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals against Longwood and Radford. He opened with a game-high 24 points and five boards in the Jan. 7 home victory over the Lancers, in addition to an assist and blocked shot. Taylor then tallied a team-high 27 points in Saturday’s road win at Radford, along with five assists, five caroms and three steals. For the week, he was 16-of-34 from the field ( =47.1 percent), made 4-of-9 threes ( =44.4) and was 15-of-20 from the charity stripe ( =75.0).
Martinez averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals and was 14-of-20 from the floor ( =70.0) as well as 5-of-10 from beyond the arc ( =50.0) in 57 minutes off the bench to help the Panthers improve to 4-0 in Big South games. He started with 22 points in just 21 minutes against Gardner-Webb on Jan. 7, which featured a career-high nine field goals (9-of-13) plus a team-high six assists in addition to three steals. Martinez then helped HPU to an overtime win at Charleston Southern on Saturday, as he posted 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals while going 5-of-7 from the floor. His only three-pointer of the contest put HPU ahead for good with 3:19 remaining in the extra session.
Miller contributed 11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 offensive rebounds and 1.0 blocked shots in 35 minutes off the bench for the Panthers. He opened with a season-high 14 points in 19 minutes against Gardner-Webb, as he was 7-of-8 from the field, along with six rebounds and two blocks. At Charleston Southern on Saturday, he stepped in at center and provided 16 strong minutes with eight points and five boards. For the week, he was 9-of-10 from the floor ( =90.0).
