Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Jan. 12

Kinley Paterson (Perth, Western Australia) is the Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 5-11, it was announced today.
Brown averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists, along with 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks, in two Longwood victories. She shot 46.4 percent from the field (13-of-28) and 80.0 percent from the line (8-of-10). The graduate guard scored 17 points with six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in a 20-point win at Charleston Southern on Wednesday. She followed with a season-high 21 points in a victory at UNC Asheville, adding four rebounds, four assists, three steals and a season-high two blocks.
Green posted two double-doubles while averaging 20.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals for UNC Asheville. She shot 62.1 percent from the floor (18-of-29) and recorded 13 of her 22 rebounds for the week on the offensive glass. The sophomore guard led the Bulldogs to a 62-51 win over Gardner-Webb on Wednesday with 18 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and four steals, matching her season high. She then tied a career high with 22 points and set a new career high with 12 rebounds against Longwood on a career-best 9-of-14 shooting, to go along with two assists and one steal.
Paterson averaged 6.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals for the Spartans while shooting 46.2 percent from the field (6-of-13) in two games. The freshman guard opened the week with her second career double-figure scoring performance, posting 10 points against Winthrop with four rebounds, five assists and a career-high four steals. She added three points, four rebounds and two assists versus Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
