James Hassell (Vero Beach, Fla.) has been named the Big South Men’s Golfer of the Week for events played Sept. 24-30, while Charleston Southern’s
Henry Crowe (Boca Raton, Fla.) is the Men’s Freshman of the Week honoree, it was announced today.
Hassell finished third at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic (par 72, 7,120 yards) with a 7-under par 209 (67-71-71). He was named to the All-Tournament Team while posting his highest placement of the fall season. Hassell was the only individual in the 90-player field to finish under-par all three rounds, had 11 birdies in his 54 holes, and was among the leaders in par-5 scoring at 7-under.
Crowe tied for fifth at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic with a 5-under par 211 (70-73-68) for his first career Top 10 finish. He earned All-Tournament Team honors, had 12 birdies and was the second-highest finisher among the 28 Big South golfers competing. Crowe’s final round 68 moved him up six spots on the leaderboard, and he tied for second overall in par-3 scoring (-1), tied for fourth in par-4 scoring (-2), and was also 2-under on the par-5 layouts.
