CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Winthrop’s KeAra Bowen (Huntsville, Ala.) has been selected the Big South Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 12-18, it was announced today.  In addition, teammate Lexi Thatcher (Indianapolis, Ind.) is the Setter of the Week, WU’s Addison Torain (Aurora, Ill.) was voted the Libero of the Week and Radford outside hitter Macie Potter (McKinney, Texas) is the Freshman of the Week honoree. 
 
Bowen filled in at middle blocker and totaled 21 kills, 25.0 points, a conference-best .528 hitting percentage, seven digs and three blocks in helping the Eagles to a 2-0 weekend.  She opened with 10 kills, a .471 clip, three digs and one block in Winthrop’s five-set victory over UNC Asheville on Friday.  Bowen followed with 11 kills and zero errors on 19 attempts for a .579 average in a 3-0 sweep of USC Upstate.  She added four digs and two blocks against the Spartans.
 
Thatcher issued 89 assists (11.13 per set) in addition to recording 25 digs and two service aces in Winthrop’s two victories.  She opened with a season-high 53 assists against UNC Asheville while digging up 12 balls and posting five kills in the five-set victory.  Thatcher followed with 36 assists and 13 digs in a sweep of USC Upstate for her ninth double-double of the year, and guided the Eagles to a .237 team hitting clip in the two matches.
 
Torain dug up 32 balls (4.00 per set) and was 100.0 percent on her 31 serve receive attempts to help the Eagles win two conference matches.  She started with 17 digs in Friday night’s win vs. UNC Asheville, then notched 15 digs in Saturday’s triumph over USC Upstate.
 
Potter recorded a .452 hitting percentage with 16 kills (4.00 per set), 12 digs and 16.5 points for the Highlanders.  In Radford’s sweep at Presbyterian Friday, she hit .478 on 13 kills and just two errors in 23 attempts, while adding eight digs and a block.  Potter hit .375 at Charleston Southern on Saturday and contributed four digs on the afternoon.
