Big South Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week - Oct. 5

Lili Adams (Frisco, Texas) has been named the Big South Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Longwood goalkeeper
Brynn Clagett (Frederick, Md.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 28-Oct. 4, it was announced today. In addition, UNC Asheville goalkeeper
London Phoenix (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.
Adams tallied seven points on three goals and one assist in two UNC Asheville wins and was credited with the game-winning goal in each. The senior recorded a brace in a commanding 7-0 win at Radford, her third of the season, scoring in the 13th and 67th minutes. She also opened the scoring for the Bulldogs in a 4-0 victory at Gardner-Webb, finding the net in the 28th minute before assisting on Asheville’s second goal just after halftime in the 49th. Adams put five of her six shots on target while playing 120 minutes.
Clagett posted a pair of clean sheets as Longwood earned shutout wins over Winthrop and Charleston Southern. The freshman made two saves and faced five shots in a 5-0 road win at Winthrop to open the week before making two more saves on 11 shots faced in a 1-0 victory over Charleston Southern. Clagett, who played all 180 minutes in net, now has four shutouts on the season.
Phoenix extended her current shutout streak to three matches with clean sheets in wins at Radford and Gardner-Webb. The freshman made four saves on nine shots in Asheville’s first win of the week, marking the Bulldogs’ first victory over the Highlanders since 2015, then followed with five saves on 10 shots against the Runnin’ Bulldogs. With two wins on the week, Asheville improved to 4-0-0 in conference play for the first time in program history.
