CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Gardner-Webb forward Tim Kreuzpeintner (Offenburg, Germany) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while UNC Asheville goalkeeper Lucca Barros (Mint Hill, N.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 26-Nov. 1, it was announced today. In addition, Winthrop forward Teo Jelaca (Ljubljana, Slovenia) has been selected as the Freshman of the Week.

Kreuzpeintner scored a goal and assisted on another as Gardner-Webb closed the regular season with a commanding 7-0 victory over Presbyterian on Saturday. The junior forward helped the Runnin’ Bulldogs open the scoring with an assist in the 16th minute before adding an unassisted goal of his own in the 37th minute to give GWU a 2-0 lead. The Runnin’ Bulldogs went on to score five more goals to secure the No. 2 seed in the Big South Tournament. Kreuzpeintner finished with five shots, including four on target, in 64 minutes of action.

Barros made four saves to help UNC Asheville earn a 0-0 draw against first-place High Point and secure its first regular-season point against the Panthers since 2011. The shutout marked his sixth of the season. The goalkeeper recorded two saves in each half, including a crucial stop in the 82nd minute to preserve the scoreless draw. Barros faced 19 shots while playing all 90 minutes.

Jelaca scored for the third consecutive match, delivering the game-winning goal in Winthrop’s victory at USC Upstate to secure a top-four finish and home-field advantage in the opening round of the Big South Tournament. With the match tied at 1-1 in the 84th minute, the Eagles earned a free kick just outside the penalty area. From a difficult angle to the left of the goalkeeper, the freshman struck a perfectly placed shot into the upper-left corner, beating the diving keeper to give Winthrop the decisive lead. It marked the first game-winning goal of Jelaca’s collegiate career and came on his only shot of the match.
