Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Feb. 16

Aaliyah Collins (Snohomish, Wash.) has been named the Big South Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while UNC Asheville guard
Jamaria Freeman (Wilson, N.C.) is the Freshmen of the Week for games played Feb. 9-15, it was announced today.
Collins averaged 26.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 steals and 2.5 blocks in two games for High Point. She shot 57.1 percent from the field (20-of-35), 50.0 percent from 3-point range (6-of-12) and 87.5 percent from the free throw line (7-of-8), while also averaging 2.5 rebounds per game. The graduate guard opened the week with 24 points, six assists, three steals and two blocks against Longwood. She then matched a career high with 29 points in a win over Charleston Southern, adding three assists and three blocks while tying a season high with five steals.
Freeman set career highs with 21 points and seven steals in UNC Asheville’s win at USC Upstate. She also recorded seven rebounds and three assists while shooting 42.1 percent from the field (8-of-19), marking the most made field goals of her career with eight. Thirteen of her 21 points came in the second half, and the performance represented the first 20-point scoring game of her career. Freeman also went 62.5 percent from the free throw line (5-of-8).
