Big South Announces Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - April 1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today its Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for competitions during March 26-29.
 
Charleston Southern’s Maya Clark (Utrecht, Netherlands) and UNC Asheville’s Aneta Kucerová (Benešov, Czech Republic) were selected the Women’s Co-Track Athlete of the Week, while High Point’s Ashlyn Giles (Reading, Pa.) earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week accolades.
 
Clark clocked a time of 53.79 in the 400m at the Raleigh Relays to finish seventh out of 126 competitors in the event.  She was also part of the Bucs’ 4x400m relay squad that placed third out of 27 squads with a time of 3:40.47.
 
Kucerová ran the fifth-fastest 3,000m Steeplechase in Big South history with a school-record time of 10:18.87 at the Raleigh Relays.  She placed 17th overall among the 69 competitors in the race, and her performance ranks 15th in the nation.
 
Giles bested her own Big South and school record in the shot put with a new standard of 16.56m at the Raleigh Relays.  She won the event by 0.15 meters, and eclipsed her previous mark by .06m.  Giles now ranks 11th nationally in the shot put.
