Big South Announces Baseball Players of the Week - April 6

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – Presbyterian College infielder Matthew Rollison (Irmo, S.C.) has been named the Big South Baseball Player of the Week, while Gardner-Webb’s Matt Stuart (Chelmsford, Mass.) is the Starting Pitcher of the Week for games played March 30-April 5, it was announced today. In addition, Radford’s Corey Costello (Leesburg, Va.) was selected as the Relief Pitcher of the Week, while Presbyterian infielder Bo Moody (Georgetown, S.C.) is the Freshman of the Week honoree.
 
Rollison batted .556 (10-for-18) with four home runs and 15 RBI while scoring six runs in four games for Presbyterian. He added three doubles while posting a 1.389 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage, recording three games with at least three hits. The sophomore opened the week with a 3-for-4 effort and four RBI at Western Carolina. He followed with a 4-for-5 performance Friday at Charleston Southern, adding a home run, a double and three runs scored. Rollison capped the week by going 3-for-5 with three home runs and seven RBI in Saturday’s series finale, tying the program’s Division I single-game home run record. His seven RBI are tied for the second-most in Presbyterian’s Division I era.
 
Stuart tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out four and walking one in Gardner-Webb’s win at UNC Asheville on Friday. He carried a perfect game into the sixth inning, retiring the first 17 batters before allowing a baserunner. The only two hits he surrendered were singles in the sixth and ninth innings, with his lone walk coming in the seventh. The freshman right-hander held opposing hitters to a .069 batting average.
 
Costello went 1-0 with 5.2 innings of one-run ball across three appearances for Radford, allowing just two hits while striking out two and walking two. He held opposing hitters to a .118 batting average on the week. The junior earned his first win of the season with 3.1 innings of one-hit relief in Game 1 against USC Upstate. He added 1.1 hitless innings in Game 3 of the series and opened the week with one inning of one-hit relief against Virginia Tech.
 
Moody batted .429 (6-for-14) with seven runs scored and two RBI across four games for Presbyterian. He reached base at a .550 clip, drawing two walks and being hit by a pitch three times. The freshman recorded two multi-hit games, including a three-hit performance, and had at least one hit in three of four contests. Moody went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI in the series finale at Charleston Southern after opening the weekend with a two-hit effort in Thursday’s opener. He also added a 1-for-3 performance with two runs and one RBI in a 6-5 win over Western Carolina to begin the week.
