2025-26 Big South Presidential Honor Roll Nears 78 Percent
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference announced today that 77.49 percent of eligible student-athletes earned Presidential Honor Roll status for their work in the classroom in 2025-26. To be named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the recently-completed academic year, and this past season, 2,320 out of 2,994 eligible student-athletes achieved the benchmark.
Longwood University led all Big South institutions for the first time, as Longwood had 85.77 percent (241) of its 281 eligible student-athletes on the Presidential Honor Roll -- one of three members to have at least 80 percent of 3.0 students.
Radford University placed 85.04 percent (216) of its 254 eligible student-athletes on the list, followed by
High Point University at 84.66 percent (309-of-365). The remaining six full members were above the 70 percent range --
USC Upstate at 78.15 (211-of-270),
Winthrop University at 77.78 percent (203-of-261),
UNC Asheville at 77.56 (197-of-254),
Presbyterian College at 72.36 (267-of-369),
Charleston Southern University at 71.43 (225-of-315) and
Gardner-Webb University at 70.20 (318-of-453).
The Big South had an all-time high 295 student-athletes receive
Commissioner’s Award distinction in 2025-26 for having a 4.0 GPA -- led by Winthrop’s 38 honorees.
Gold Award scholars (3.75-3.99) totaled 703 while another 560 received
Silver Award (3.50-3.74) accolades in 2025-26 for a combined total of 1,557 student-athletes with at least a 3.50 GPA last year -- 67.11 percent of all Presidential Honor Roll members at or above that threshold.
