Big South Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Sept. 14

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com– UNC Asheville forward Tyler Ware (Hooper, Utah) has been named the Big South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Asheville goalkeeper Lucca Barros (Mint Hill, N.C.) is the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 7-13, it was announced today. 

Ware totaled four points on a goal and two assists to help lead UNC Asheville to a pair of wins. The senior assisted on the game-winning goal just 19 seconds into a 1-0 victory over Wofford to open the week. He then scored the eventual game-winning goal in the third minute of a 4-0 win at VMI, finding the back of the net before assisting on the Bulldogs’ next goal in the 12th minute to give Asheville an early 2-0 lead. Ware put four of his five shots on target while playing 129 total minutes on the week.

Barros totaled nine saves and recorded a pair of clean sheets in two wins for UNC Asheville. The redshirt sophomore made seven saves on 17 shots in a 1-0 shutout win over Wofford, finishing one save shy of his career high. All seven stops came after the Bulldogs took an early lead, including two in the final seven minutes as the Terriers pressed for an equalizer. Barros then made two saves on four shots in a 4-0 shutout win at VMI. He played all 180 minutes in goal and finished the week with a perfect 1.000 save percentage.
