Emily Dassel is in her 11th year with the Big South Conference in 2025-26, and fourth as Assistant Commissioner for Digital Media.  She joined the staff in September, 2015 as Assistant Director of Multimedia, and was promoted to Director of Digital Media in 2017.

In her role, Dassel is the primary shooter, editor, producer and director on all conference video content, including highlights, weekly conference shows, championship promotions and student-athlete video features.  She enhanced the annual student-athlete “Musco Spotlight” and “Faces of the Big South” video series, which showcase Big South student-athletes who are leaders on their team, active in their communities or have overcome adversity.  These video features have highlighted the achievements of nearly 150 student athletes and provides Big South student-athletes recognition and representation regionally and nationally.  Her efforts in developing, coordinating and managing the video strategy for the Big South has amassed close to 2.5 million views across the league’s various social media platforms.  Dassel oversees the implementation and execution of the Big South Network Studio project management and content strategy.  

She also develops, coordinates and oversees video strategy and provides leadership on new technology and standards.  Dassel provides support and guidance for membership video teams by leading the curation and management of a growing library of quality video assets, and establishing video standards for Big South Network and video production.  

In 2022, Dassel was awarded "Best in the Nation - Soccer Recap" by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the Winter Sports Video Recaps - University Division category.

Prior to joining the Big South, Dassel worked for Kroenke Sports & Entertainment as a Digital Media Producer.  In her role, she would shoot, edit and produce practice, games, press conferences, interviews, hype videos, special events, community events and partnered content.  During her time there she attended and contributed to team coverage of the 2015 NBA Draft in Brooklyn, N.Y. 

Dassel’s experience also includes working at a Digital Media Intern for the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC.  In her role, she shot and edited daily online segments for Seahawks.com and SoundersFC.com.  She also attended and contributed to coverage of Super Bowl XLVIII through daily press conferences, media day coverage, and daily sights and sounds video features.

A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Dassel graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.  She resides in Charlotte with her husband, Corey.
