Big South Announces Football TV Package on ESPN3 and Stadium
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference today announced that its 2017 ESPN3 and Stadium football television broadcast schedule will feature 10 telecasts. ESPN3 will exclusively deliver seven games this year, while Stadium (formerly ASN) will televise three contests.
The Big South’s exclusive ESPN3 “Game of the Week” begins Week 1 with Monmouth hosting Lafayette Saturday, Sept. 2 at 3:00pm in West Long Branch, N.J. -- the first game in the Hawks’ new stadium. The schedule resumes Oct. 14 as Kennesaw State visits Liberty, and continues each week through the conclusion of the regular-season on Nov. 18, which will be a “Wildcard” selection determined 14-21 days in advance.
Meanwhile, Stadium’s three-game package features all noon kickoffs starting with the Oct. 14 Charleston Southern at Presbyterian game, followed by the Oct. 28 Liberty at Gardner-Webb contest and the Nov. 11 Gardner-Webb at Monmouth match-up. Game times for all three games have been changed to accommodate each broadcast. Carriage affiliates will be announced the week of each game.
The exclusive 10-game ESPN3/Stadium slate, as well as televised games outside the conference’s package, appears below. Additional televised games as well as exclusive Big South Network broadcasts will be announced once finalized. All remaining non-exclusive home contests will be available for free on the Big South Network as well as Roku as part of the Big South’s broadcast tier plan.
ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices through the ESPN App. The network is currently available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. It is also available at no cost to U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.
Stadium will offer its Big South football productions to its Sinclair Broadcasting stations solely located in the conference’s footprint of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as New Jersey and Georgia. Sinclair’s broadcast stations will either carry the games as part of the primary program lineup (generally on the Company’s CW and MyNet affiliates) or as part of second channels (sub-channels of the primary station’s signal).
Stadium is a new multi-platform sports network featuring exclusive live and on-demand games and events, extensive highlights, classic games, original programming, and daily live studio programming. Stadium was formed when Campus Insiders, 120 Sports and The American Sports Network merged into a singular network to take advantage of a combined collection of professional and collegiate rights and unique access to both digital and television distribution opportunities. Stadium includes a 24/7 linear feed distributed across both digital and broadcast platforms, as well as a comprehensive array of on-demand (VOD) digital content including additional live games and events.
